Warcrafter: A New 5-Star Resource

Thanks to BigRedKitty for letting us all know about a new site out there that is everything the Armory should be. This new site is Warcrafter.net, and it simply knocks my socks off.

The most basic use is to look at your own character(s). When you do, you also get a listing on the right side of your entire guild (although mine still showed people who left the guild almost 2 weeks ago). You can easily compare your gear to theirs, using the rough "Gear Score" or you can peruse the much more detailed listing. As an example, here’s my Priest’s current sheet (there are probably no buffs on him): Osprey.

As an exercise, I looked at one of our Level 70 hunters. By replacing his dual melee weapons with Terokk’s Quill + Savagery, he could raise his RAP by 90 points.

Need to know whether that item, gem or enchant is going to really improve your stats? It’s a trivial exercise using Warcrafter’s Sandbox mode. Simply replace your current item with what you’re contemplating, click the "Build Stats" button, and see what numbers changed.

I know I’ll be spending a LOT of time looking at Warcrafter’s pages for my characters: All I can say is, I’m sure glad I have dual monitors!

So at first I was way dazzled by this site. I really like having everything on one page. However, I’m not sure how I would use this in a practical sense. Would be cool if you could do a post about how you plan to use it.

While I use RatingBuster for in-game stat comparisons of items, it only compares items “as-is”–that is, without an enchant, or with gems socketed.

Warcrafter will let you substitute any item (including items you can’t equip due to level or rep restrictions), then apply gems and/or enchants, and view the change(s) in your stats.

You could also compare yourself to others of the same level and class, either in your guild (very easily) or by name, or class.

It’s also a useful tool for raid/guild/class leaders to see how their folks are geared, and enables them to make specific suggestions on how to be more viable. For instance, I suggested to the hunter in my guild, mentioned above, how he could raise his RAP by 90 points. :)

Rub it in about the dual monitors. Why must it hurt so bad. j/k that site is really cool but thanks for telling me about the sandbox mode I had no idea what it was.
