WordPress 2.5 Installed: So Far, So Good

March 31, 2008

The much-anticipated WordPress 2.5 was released on Saturday, March 29. I didn’t realize it until today, but at lunchtime I upgraded to the new version (note to self: fix the footer!).
I re-enabled all my many plugins (except for a theme for the Admin back-end, since that part of WP is completely redone–and quite nicely, I [...]

PvP: Falken’s New Gear and Template

March 31, 2008

Last week, I was QQing over Falken’s lousy PvP skills. I received quite a bit of good advice, and while Falken still sucks, at least I can get him up to the first page of the Alliance Damage/Kills ratings for AV. Thanks to all of you who took the time to comment!
I added the Vindicator’s [...]

It’s the Little Things That Mean a Lot

March 25, 2008

After having studiously avoided reading any consolidated PTR patch notes (reading excerpts and analysis is impossible given all the blogs out here!), I took the time to peruse the Official Patch 2.4 Notes while I ate my breakfast this morning.
All very interesting (I’m going to hate logging in today to figure out which of my [...]

Beast Mastery and Me: Macros and More

March 24, 2008

Pike put up an outstanding article at Aspect of the Hare on Beast Mastery and the Zen of Shot Rotation. If you’re a BM hunter, go read her article. Become enlightened. Just don’t forget to come back here! (Oh, and she also introduced me to Greta at Aspect of the Girl, whose blog is new [...]

Why Do I Suck At PvP?

March 22, 2008

I’m talking about on my Rogue, Falken. Yesterday I got the second of his PvP daggers, the [Gladiator's Shanker] (complete with [Mongoose] enchant) to go with my [Gladiator's Shiv]. Now I realize weapons alone don’t make the man. But I’m not seeing much difference between the new weapons and my older ones (a couple of [...]

WordPress: Get Love From Your Commenters With CommentLuv

March 21, 2008

Talk about serendipity, I got a double dose of it from following links from commenters here today. First, I found Ambidextrous, a blog about a combat-sword rogue just entering Karazhan. Ambi’s now added to the blogroll under Rogues. Second, while commenting on Ambi’s blog, I discovered CommentLuv.

Okay, we all know you’re a student, and you’re Canadian. So let’s flesh this out a bit: What university, why that one, what are you studying, when do you graduate, and what are your post-graduate plans?

Arthur C. Clarke, 20th Century Visionary, Dead at 90

March 20, 2008

Trollin’ posted a link to Bloomberg’s report on the death on March 18 in Sri Lanka of Arthur C. Clarke, scientist (member of the British Interplanetary Society) and author, including the book and screenplay for the revolutionary 2001: A Space Odyssey. Apollo 13’s Command Module and the 2001 Mars Orbiter were named Odyssey, in honor [...]

Guild Update, and Matticus’ Challenge

March 19, 2008

Matticus has issued a challenge to me, among others, to post an article springing from the headlines in a recent issue of Cosmopolitan. (No, I have no clue why in the world Matt is reading Cosmo; unfortunately, I saw his post too late to include it in my 20 Questions for him.)
Here’s Matt’s challenge, in [...]
