Looking for Suggestions

in Blogs and Blogging, WordPress

For some unknown reason (and believe me, I’m tired of troubleshooting blog glitches!) two plugins I used in my earlier theme, Enhanced Categories and Enhanced Links, no longer work in the current theme. Even if they did, I’m not sure I would want to use them: Both of them take up a lot of real estate.1

Now, maybe I need to pare my categories to a more manageable number, but even if I did, that would involve a lot of work to recategorize articles. Similarly, my blogroll is…huge.2

I’m looking for some suggestions for addons or scripts to help me with both categories and the blogroll. I will say that one option I’m considering very strongly is something similar to what Nibuca has at Mystic Chicanery.3

What are you using that really floats your boat, either for categories or your blogroll? I’m certainly open to ideas that involve a completely separate page, as well as solutions that can be implemented in the sidebars.

So please: Help a blogger out!4

Notes:
  1. While we’re on the topic, I can’t get Slimbox to work either. Any thoughts?
  2. Kinda like the number of subscriptions, and consequently, unread items, in my feed reader.
  3. I’ve already cautioned her I may blatantly and unashamedly rip off that concept.
  4. Yes, I know there’s been precious little WoW content lately; I’m working on it! Moar WoW coming soon!

Google Reader is able to produce a self-updating blogroll which is what I use (on a separate page). I have always felt bad about not having anything on the front page, though. However, Blogger has a new feature that will display some of the recently updated blogs from your blogroll so I use that too.

Yeah, that blogroll is actually mine. Blogroll, Please.

Razorbax over at Three Druid Noob even made a little helper Excel file. Blogroll Tool

And yeah, if you read my original post, you’ll see I was actually inspired to make mine because of your category system.

Right…you made it for Blogger as I recall. However, as you can see, I did get my original plugin to work. Seems the header.php file was missing a lot of stuff: I’m surprised anything was working! :)
