Stuff You Should Read

in World of Warcraft

At the moment, Alie and her grandma are at the nearby park. I kind of injured myself last night (no idea exactly how), so walking is a bit painful at the moment, not to mention what chasing around after a hyperactive 3-year-old1 would be like. Instead, I thought I’d catch up a bit on my too-neglected feed reader. In so doing, I ran across a few posts I want to share with you.2

Happy Blogday, Pike!

Over at Aspect of the Hare, Pike just celebrated her first year as a WoW blogger. Stop by and pass on your good wishes to one of the really cool (and just plain GOOD) hunter bloggers in our midst.

Blizzard’s New Recruiting Campaign: Unfair Advantage?

BeNameless rants on his eponymous3 blog about Blizzard’s latest "recruit a friend" campaign. He argues (convincingly, in my opinion) that by giving those who subscribe under the incentive plan have an unfair advantage over "the rest of us" and that Blizzard is doing it by selling leveling services (not to mention other perks not otherwise available in game).

Guild Officers: What Is "The Right Stuff"?

If you are, or aspire to be, a guild officer and you don’t already subscribe to Auzara’s Chick GM blog, stop procrastinating! If you still need a good reason to become a regular reader, you need look no further than her respectful disagreement with a WoW Insider article4. In her article, Auzara effectively demonstrates how WI’s "wrong stuff" can most assuredly be "The Right Stuff" for a guild’s officer corps.

Beta Goodness for Priests

If you’re a priest (holy, discipline, or shadow) and you’re not in the WotLK beta, how do you learn about what’s coming down the pike with our class? You hie over to A Dwarf Priest and read the regular updates, such as this one on Priest Inscriptions. Dwarfpriest has the most informative and comprehensive information I’ve yet seen regarding the beta.5

What Your Guildsite Says About Your Guild

Getting back to the topic of guild management, one key recruiting tool is a guild’s website.6 Lassirra from The Hunter’s Mark writes about what’s good and not so good about guild websites she visits. This article is just one example of why hers is a 5-Star Blog. (Oh, and generally, your guild website sucks!)

Expensive Pet Talents in WotLK

No, I’m not here to post even more WotLK info. Lots better people than I are doing that, including, of course, Mania (through the guise of her WotLK Beta alt, Ghostcrawler). Tons of info to be had at her Arcania, as well as some insightful analysis as well, such as her article on expensive (to use) pet talents.

Just For Grins: I Want My MGT!

Jessika the Tank, from Pretty in Plate, WoWified a very popular Dire Straits number. Check it out, but it’s okay if you don’t want to confess to singing along with a YouTube video.

So I think this is a good place to stop. I’ll give you a chance to go forth and read these little gems I prospected for you. Feel free to come back and let me know if this was a worthwhile exercise…or I’m quite liable to do it again.

One last thing before I go: A little bit of national pride, if I may:

__________
Notes:
  1. Six weeks short of her fourth birthday.
  2. Yes, I know this is the lazy man’s way of blogging, but if you get a nugget of goodness out of any of these, then all is well. Right?
  3. Look it up: eponymous
  4. Respectful, but vehement disagreement!
  5. If you’re a priest, Dwarfpriest should be part of your regular reading, anyway! Every single thing she posts is 100% WIN.
  6. If it isn’t, it should be!

Hiya Kestrel! Thanks for that link to “I Want My MGT,” hilarious.

This is also a shameless way to mention that I’ve reactivated my account and am actively bloggings again. Heh. I was inspired to go ahead and start Doofy the Paladin after finding this blog and realizing how deep the WoW Blogosphere was, after all.
