Earlier today, I mentioned in BA Chat that I was about to assemble a new dual-monitor stand, and Matt demanded pictures. I didn’t think to take any “before” shots, but here are a shot of the assembled stand sans monitors, and couple shots of both the finished product, and some close-ups of my new Microsoft Sidewinder X6 keyboard.

dual-mon stand1
Assembled stand, without monitors.

Time from unpacking to this point: about 10 minutes, because I’m slow.

Desk01
The finished product. On the left, Dell 24”; on the right, Gateway 22”.

Note the new Boston Acoustics speakers. The computer is on the far right.

Not shown: The L-portion on the left, because it’s a bit of a mess atm.

desk02
Close-up of the desk, taken without flash.

sidewinder
The MS Sidewinder X6.

Note the left-hand placement of the moveable numeric keypad.

The mouse pad on the upper part of the desk was part of the WotLK Collector’s Edition.

sidewinder02
A better view of the X6’s red backlighting.

This happens to be at full brightness, which isn’t quite as bright as it might seem from the photo.

Ooh,pretty colours…

Personally, I’ve always wanted a dual-screen, but I don’t have the:

a)money
b)time
c)know how

I can’t help you with the first. With respect to the second, taking a new monitor out of the box and attaching the stand is the time-consuming part.

As for know-how: If you can connect two monitors to your video card (and most decent graphics cards for gaming have two connectors), then you’ve got that part licked too!

Wow.

I think I just had a geekgasm.

Grats on the gear, looks really awesome. :)

Haven’t had a second monitor with my current system, but that stand looks like something ill have to think about if i go back to 2 monitors.

It’s amazing how much space on the top of the desk is freed up this way. (Of course, that could just be because I had to clear everything off the desk to attach the monitors to the stand, and I haven’t had a lot of time to clutter up the desk again!)

Very nice setup. I especially like the keyboard. I’m going to look closely at upgrading my keyboard.. and soon.
